Whether you’re a devotee of Gospel music or not you can’t help but feel uplifted by the BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year.

After the fabulous success of last year’s competition, this year’s event is bigger and better than ever! Songs of Praise will broadcast two special editions to find the best amateur Gospel choir in the country on BBC One Sunday 28th September at 1630 and Sunday 5th October at 1715.

Presenter David Grant hosts the programmes, along with co-presenter Josie d’Arby, from the historic Hackney Empire in London. The six choirs, who’ve made it through to the finals, will sing with all their heart and soul, to an enthusiastic audience in an attempt to impress our three judges. With the difficult decision of picking a winner are; soul singer Mica Paris, TV presenter and vocal coach and MOBI award winner Carrie Grant, and UK Gospel artist Muyiwa Olarewaju. Will you agree with their choice?

The choirs will each perform twice before the judges decide which choir will lift the coveted trophy and become the Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of 2014.
