About Riversongz

2002 – 2005

It is without doubt that Muyiwa and Riversongz are currently the UK’s most prized Gospel asset. Since their debut in 2002 Muyiwa & Riversongz have with a unique blend of traditional gospel, world music, pop sensibilities and contemporary worship carved a niche and breathed life into what some critics had thought was dry barren land when referring to support for Gospel music in the UK. However, four albums, impressive sales figures, regular appearances at premier gospel events and on television serve as evidence of their exceptional appeal. Ministering with likes of Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Donnie Mcklurin, Mary Mary they prove they are credible and worthy to stand shoulder to shoulder with their US counterparts.

The group’s debut album ‘Restoration’ was recorded live in 2002 and featured songs written by Emma Award Winning Eddie Martin as well as the lead in Riversongz and TV / radio personality; Muyiwa Olarewaju. Such has been the impact of the album that featured songs like ‘Our God Is Good’, ‘Your Loving Kindness’, ‘Restoration’ and ‘We Want To See You’ have been embraced by people across the UK, Europe and Africa, and incorporated into their worship services.

2005 – 2007

Muyiwa and Riversongz sophomore project; live album and DVD entitled ‘Declaring His Power’ were released in November 2005. The 12 new songs were brought to life by a 6-piece band; 40-voice choir & 8 backing singers. The album went on to be the top selling album for Wesley Owen UK, Number 1 album on Cross Rhythm Direct, top 3 best seller Kingsway Music. Songs from the album ‘Alleluia Eh’ and ‘Imela’ were nominated for the prestigious Oasis award. The album has so far exceeded the sales of ‘Restoration’.

Songs from the ‘Declaring His Power’ DVD are still regularly played on Christian cable TV stations in the UK and Africa. Local BBC Radio Stations and BBC Radio 2 have also supported the project with significant airplay.

Muyiwa & Riversongz took their success to the next level when they recorded their third live album and DVD ‘Declaring His Love’ in October 2007 at the renowned Ocean music venue in London with over 2000 people in attendance.
